Thanks Anne. Yes, the long service leave is a great perk. Not very many people get the opportunity to take advanced of it as so many change jobs after only a few years, or have no choice but to change jobs. It was certainly worth it to us to stick it out. Good luck on your future travels.

I’m in my forties and take mini career breaks the last being around four years ago for a few months. I only wish we had the long service leave that you have in Oz in the Uk as we are next planning to take an extended trip when my husband can draw his tax free cash in around six years. Then again when I can do the same.

It shows you just have to get out there and do it. I’ve retired early which means I have the time, but the consequence is a reduced pension so not so much money. I’m working on making it happen- I’m fancying the Trans-siberian Moscow-Beijing and then down through China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia to Singapore. It’s an epic journey but I really want to do it- you only get one life don’t you. Love to read more of your adventures, I really like your writing style.
