Thanks so much for your comment Julian. We still have so much to see in Thailand, and so much more food to try - we will be back one day, especially since we can get some great flight deals there from Australia. I was thinking I probably should check out some of the islands next since they are so popular, but maybe the Golden Triangle could be an option too.

I have only recently started following your blog. Interesting read, and very nice photos, thanks.

We lived in Thailand for 9 years owning and running an 8 bungalow resort on Koh Chang, so we experienced some of these areas too. We enjoyed Chang Mia, mainly as a design type centre where we could buy décor items for our resort.

Unfortunately we didn't get to the White Temple, and now I'm sorry, it really does look worth while. You probably know that the building has been funded by one man, not a religious order.

Another time try also to go up to the Golden Triangle area, and the route there. We took some back roads literally along the Burmese border, that were very exciting. And the Golden Triangle itself has that mythical feel about the place which is steeped in its opium history.

As for the food in Thailand, it is the best in SE Asia, without a doubt.
