Thanks Pete. Yes, bit of a rookie mistake with the amount of time in Amsterdam. Three nights lulled me into thinking three days! Then I found out it was Kings Day, and lost another day of “proper sightseeing” then too. Will definitely get back there some day.

Amsterdam is fantastic. I went for the BookCrossing.com convention a few years back, and returned with my son on our Europe driving tour.

Public transport is excellent, but watch out – there’s bikes *everywhere*! Loved the paper cones full of chips. and the beer. And, well, everything.

Gotta have a feed of stroopwaffel. And cheese. And whatever that dairy drink is.

Museums are fantastic. Loved the Rijksmuseum. So many amazing paintings and displays.

Make some time for a return visit to see more stuff. Thoroughly worthwhile city.

Yes, I would have liked to see the tulips. I am back in Europe next April, maybe I will get to it then.
