I would recommend to anyone visiting Victor Harbor to take the Cockle Train to Goolwa like you did. A nice daytrip would be to leave mid morning and have a look around the train station area when you arrive. You could than have lunch at Hectors which is right on the River Murray and enjoy the views and seafood. Spaghetti Vongelle seemed to be the favorite dish – with local cockles. I had the Fisherman’s Basket. If you want a drink the Distillery is quite close or you could have a walk along the wharf and river front. In the afternoon you can then return to Victor Harbor on the Cockle Train for a very relaxing and low key day.
